Appropriate for Grade 1 — Level 1: Early childhood, primary. — Use these nonfiction writing prompts for whole class activities, small group projects, individual writing support, homework assignments, center activities, or test practice. The writing assignments cover five writing genres (narrative, expository, persuasive, and visual presentation, and journal writing). The set consists of 120 durable “Quick Starters” cards (4″ x 6″) in a sturdy, cardboard file box. — The writing assignments may fall anywhere along the writing process, from prewriting (brainstorming and outlining), to final drafts and publications. A great way to encourage young writers to enhance their writing ability and performance.
