Test kits run out; hydrometers shatter and only read accurately at 20C. A better alternative is this rugged refractometer thats temperature compensated and fully automatic. After only a few seconds and a few drops of sample, a high-contrast scale reads both specific gravity from 1.0001.070, 0.001, and ppt from 0100, from 1030C with 1.0 ppt accuracy.
